Clinical Pilates Courses for Physiotherapists

DMA Clinical Pilates, the original pioneer in Clinical Pilates, provides Clinical Pilates training in NZ.

DMA Clinical Pilates pioneered the link between spinal stability research and the Pilates system.  For over 20 years DMA Clinical Pilates has provided the highest level of evidence based Pilates training for physiotherapists in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong , Singapore, and the UK.   The Clinical Pilates concept has been at the cutting edge of developments in physiotherapy, particularly in Australia, expanding into functional stability muscle facilitation, electromyography (EMG), and diagnostic applications. The most recent development has been the use of real time ultrasound to take theory into practice and identify how Pilates exercise can effectively activate the most appropriate muscle activity.

The Clinical Pilates course programme run internationally is fully accredited by the Australian Physiotherapy Association in conjunction with Sports Physiotherapy Australia and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Australia.  The Equipment and Matwork/therband courses are also fully accredited by the NZ College of Physiotherapy and are worth 10 College logbook points each. The programme has been developed "from the ground up" as an integrative tool specifically for physiotherapists who wish to use the Clinical Pilates programme within the clinic.

Sara Dore, director of Empower Physio & Pilates is the NZ lecturer for the Matwork/Theraband level 1 & 2 courses.
